Mexico’s Directorate-General for Religious Associations (DGAR), which is located within the Interior Ministry works, inter alia, to develop policies to enable the free and full exercise of freedom of religion or belief and to foster a culture of tolerance; strengthen the relationship between the government with religious institutions; develop and strengthen governmental programmes and collaborations with religious institutions; conduct conflict mediation and investigations of cases of religious intolerance. The aim of the DGAR is to promote religious tolerance and contribute to the development and consolidation of an environment of coexistence and respect among individuals and groups of different faiths.
