The ‘Bridge Builders’ initiative in Argentina was created in 2009 by three women – Maria Eugenia Crespo, who is Catholic, Marisa Bergman, who is Jewish, and Nancy Falcon, who is Muslim. The aim of the organisation is to break the isolation between communities often caused by religiously denominated schools, through the development of common projects that enable students to experience each other’s faith. It focuses on building respect for diversity and improving capacity for dialogue. The organisation provides advice to school principals, students, security forces and other key actors. In 2016 the ‘Bridge Builders’ initiative helped the City of Barcelona, in alliance with UNESCO Association for Interreligious Dialogue, to set up a similar program in the city.
